Shoplifter stopped at Marshall's

A 54-year-old Detroit man was arrested on Tuesday, September 12 in connection with an attempted shoplifting incident at a Rochester Hills home goods store, authorities said. A deputy with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office responding about 1:34 p.m. to the report of a theft at Marshall's Home Goods arrived to speak with store security who stopped the man. The sheriff's office said the store's video surveillance system showed the man entering the store with a Marshall's bag, which he then used to conceal two bottles of perfume and some Ralph Lauren pillow cases. Security said the man attempted to leave the store with the items without paying, but was stopped before exiting the building. The man was taken into custody and fingerprinted at the Oakland County Sheriff's Rochester Hills substation. He was cited for retail fraud and released pending an arrest warrant.
