Sports car breaks down, catches fire

The driver of a Chevrolet Camero on Sunday, October 1, who was attempting to leave the parking lot at Bar Louie, 1488 N. Rochester Road, in Rochester Hills, escaped her vehicle before it was engulfed in flames, authorities said.

Rochester Hills firefighters and Oakland County sheriff deputies responding about 2:30 p.m. to the area for the report of a vehicle fire arrived to find a vehicle in the parking lot fully engulfed in flames. Deputies spoke briefly with the driver, who they said was upset and not able to give a full statement at the time.

Deputies said both the driver and witnesses said the woman was attempting to pull out of the parking spot when her vehicle stalled. She said she started it again, but it once again stalled. After the third time, the driver was informed by the occupants of an adjacent vehicle that her Camero was on fire.

The woman was able to exit the vehicle without any injuries. Cars parked near the Camero were able to be moved before being damaged. Firefighters arrived at the scene and were able to extinguish the blaze.
