Heroin overdose victim revived by deputies
A 24-year-old Rochester Hills woman suffering signs of a drug overdose on Tuesday, October 17, was revived by Oakland County Sheriff's deputies who treated the victim in the 2800 block of Midvale Avenue.
Deputies responded about 4:50 a.m. to the report of a drug overdose for an unconscious woman who was having trouble breathing. Upon arrival, the woman was found lying on a bedroom floor of the residence. Residents at the home told deputies the victim was a drug user and had recently used heroin.
Deputies administered two doses of Narcan, a medicine used to treat opioid overdoses, after which the victim showed signs of improvement. Deputies said the victim spoke with paramedics after regaining consciousness and told them she wanted to die.
The victim was transported by paramedics to Troy Beaumont Hospital for further evaluation. Deputies accompanied paramedics to the hospital where they completed a petition for involuntary committal.
