Stolen vehicle recovered in Rochester Hills

A vehicle reported stolen from Pontiac was recovered by Oakland County sheriff's deputies on Monday, October 16, who stopped the driver of the stolen vehicle in Rochester Hills.

The sheriff's office said the victim reported the vehicle stolen on Friday, October 6, from an undisclosed location in Pontiac. The victim told deputies she had recently purchased the vehicle and subsequently discovered it was taken back by the original owner. She also told deputies she discovered the vehicle was being moved to an address in the 3100 block of Eastern Avenue in Rochester Hills.

Deputies responded to the area to look for the vehicle and located it traveling on Eastern Avenue near Sibley Street. Deputies stopped the vehicle and took the driver into custody.

The driver was taken to the Rochester Hills substation to speak with detectives from the auto theft unit. The vehicle was impounded as evidence.

The case is under investigation.
