Narcan given to suspected overdose victim

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies responding on Saturday, November 4, to the report of a possible drug overdose in the 3300 block of Eastwood Drive used several doses of Narcan on a 33-year-old Rochester Hills man found unconscious at his home. The sheriff's office said the victim's wife told emergency dispatchers that she found her husband lying on his bed, unconscious and not breathing. Deputies at the scene said the victim was unresponsive and exhibiting shallow breathing, spurring them to administer an initial dose of Narcan. Paramedics with the Rochester Hills Fire Department also responded to the scene and administered additional doses of the treatment, before transporting him to Troy Beaumont Hospital for further medical treatment. The sheriff's office said the victim had allegedly been drinking alcoholic beverages and taking prescription pain medication.
