Vandals break decorations, disturb homeowner

Unknown vandals pestering a Rochester Hills resident in the 2800 block of Harrison Avenue during the early morning hours of Saturday, December 2, woke up their victims and smashed several Christmas decorations, authorities said.

The homeowner told the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said there had been multiple instances since the summer of people banging on her front door late at night, particularly on Friday and Saturdays nights. The homeowner told a deputy she suspects intoxicated people leaving the bar near the home may be responsible, as the incidents typically occur between 1 and 2 a.m.

The homeowner said the latest incident occurred on December 2 when someone knocked on the door and smashed a moose decoration that was on the porch.

The woman said the incidents have woken and frightened her children. She requested the sheriff's office conduct additional patrols in the area around the time of the previous incidents.
