Rochester Hills seeks input on master plan

Rochester Hills officials are seeking community input into its 2018 Master Plan, which serves as the city's long-range planning document to guide policy and decision-making about how land in the city will be used for housing, transportation, commerce and recreation.

The city is required to revisit the goals and objectives of previous plans to see if they still align with the collective vision of the city's future. The process also requires public input into that process. In order to encourage resident feedback, the city is using a variety of methods aimed at people of all ages.

Residents are encouraged to participate in a 10-minute survey at the city's website to share their thoughts and ideas. Survey responses will be collected now through the late spring of 2018. The survey is available at rochesterhills.org/masterplan or by hard copy at Rochester Hills City Hall.

The city also is seeking art and photos from residents.

PictureThis! is an online forum which allows residents and business owners to share their ideas through pictures. Residents are encouraged to snap photos of places or locations they feel are worth preserving, in need of attention or something the city needs more of. Images may be submitted online at the city's master plan website.

Artwork from children, ages 5 to 18, in the form of drawing, photography or a poem featuring their favorite place in Rochester Hills, may also be submitted. One entry per child is allowed. Awards will be divided into categories by age, with winning entries included in the city's master plan.

In addition to volunteer submissions, the city will hold two community input workshops this spring. The events will be open to the public, with city staff, officials, and facilitators on hand to encourage participation. All information will be used in the development of the city's plan.
