Rochester Hills death under investigation
The death of a 22-year-old Rochester Hills man who died en route to the hospital on the morning of Monday, January 22 is under investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's office said deputies and paramedics with the Rochester Hills Fire Department were dispatched about 8:30 a.m. to the 700 block of Cambridge Circle for the report of an unresponsive man. Upon arrival, deputies found the man lying on the bedroom floor. He was unresponsive and not breathing.
Deputies and paramedics administered CPR before giving the man a dose of Naloxone, or NARCAN. The man then regained consciousness and was transported to Ascension-Crittenton Hospital.
The sheriff's office said the man became combative with paramedics while being transported to the hospital. The man suffered a cardiac arrest during the drive. Upon arrival at the hospital, personnel were unsuccessful in reviving the man, who subsequently died.
Investigators said the man was known to have a history of opioid and drug abuse. Narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia were found at the scene. The incident was under investigation, and an autopsy was scheduled by the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office.
