Vehicle break-ins in Rochester investigated

A pair of vehicle break-ins that occurred in March are being investigated by police in the city of Rochester, the department said.

A Rochester resident told police on Tuesday, March 24, that several items were taken overnight from their vehicle while it was parked in the 900 block of Hemlock. The victim said they left the vehicle unlocked. A gym bag from the victim's vehicle was found the following morning in a neighboring back yard.

Police said a similar incident was reported in the 900 block of Aspen, in the same neighborhood.

Both cases are under investigation and have been assigned to the department's detective bureau.

"The Rochester Police Department would like to remind residents to remember to lock their vehicles at night in order to prevent these thefts from occurring," the department said in a news release.
