Police break up street brawl downtown

A 24-year-old Grand Blanc man suspected of instigating a street brawl in downtown Rochester was arrested on Sunday, April 8, in connection with disorderly intoxication and resisting police orders, authorities said.

Rochester police said the fight occurred about 2 a.m. on Sunday, and was observed by an officer on patrol in the 200 block of Main Street who witnessed three males hitting each other. The officer ordered the men to stop fighting, but they ignored the officer's commands.

"The officer deployed his taser, which ended the fight," the department said in a news release.

The main instigator, the Grand Blanc man, was arrested and booked at the Rochester Police Department and was released when sober pending a court date.

Another instigator was also issued a misdemeanor citation for disorderly conduct.
