Phony identity used to open Comcast account

A 72-year-old Rochester Hills resident discovered he had his identity stolen in mid-2017 by an unknown person who opened a Comcast cable account without his knowledge.

The victim told the Oakland County Sheriff's Office that he recently received a call from a bill collection service that was trying to collect on an account opened in his name. The man said he never opened the account nor did he give permission to anyone to open one in his name.

The account was opened sometime in July of 2017.
