Kochenderfer secures local road funds
Oakland County Board of Commissioner Adam Kochenderfer on Thursday, May 17, sponsored a motion approved by fellow commissioners to secure $22,681 for Rochester roads through the county's local road improvement program. The funds will be used with the city's maintenance requirements and other road repairs. The city of Rochester plans to use the funds to repair and replace portions of Bloomer Road. "Safe and smooth roads are a priority for Rochester families and businesses," Kochenderfer said. "I will continue doing anything I can to secure road funding for our residents." Kochenderfer, a Republican, represents the 15th District, which includes Rochester and Rochester Hills. Rochester City Manager Blaine Wing said the city is pleased with the road funds secured. "The city is thrilled to learn that we were awarded local road improvement program funds from Oakland County's pilot program, which will be matched with funds from the city of Rochester to replace about 850 lineal feet of Bloomer Road, as well as approximately 1,500 lineal feet of failing asphalt curb," Wing said. The program provides limited financial assistance to Oakland County cities and villages for repairs and improvements on roadways under their jurisdiction. The program ensures that the county investment in roads is multiplied by requesting local municipalities to match funding from Oakland County. Launched in 2016, the program has driven an estimated $20 million investment in local roads.
