Woman arrested for shoplifting at Walmart
A 64-year-old Pontiac woman was arrested on Thursday, May 24, in connection with retail fraud after she was allegedly caught trying to steal nearly $50 worth of merchandise from a Rochester Hills Walmart store, authorities said. Loss prevention staff at the Walmart store, 2500 S. Adams, told a deputy responding to the incident that they observed the woman walking in the pharmacy area with a purse that appeared to be empty. The staff said the woman discarded some of the packaging of items, placed them in her purse and then tried to leave without paying. The items, which included an allergy medication, a heartburn treatment and a can of corned beef, were valued at $47.04. After being stopped, the woman offered to pay for the items. The woman was arrested in connection with retail fraud and transported to the Rochester Hills Oakland County Sheriff's substation where she was fingerprinted and cited, then released.
