Downtown Rochester credit union robbed

Rochester police are looking for information leading to the arrest of a man responsible for a robbery on Monday, July 23, at the Alliance Catholic Credit Union, 912 N. Main Street, in Rochester. Rochester Police Chief Steve Schettenhelm said officers responded about 2:20 p.m. to a hold-up alarm at the credit union. Upon arrival, officers spoke with employees who said they had just been robbed and that the responsible man left the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. Police said a white man in his late 20s or early 30s walked into the credit union and handed a teller a note implying he had a weapon. No weapon was actually seen. The man was described as standing 6-feet to 6-feet, 3-inches tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a red baseball hat with a black brim with white lettering, a white undershirt and gray zip-up hoodie, jeans and black shoes. Investigators secured the area and attempted to locate the man. The Rochester Police K-9 Unit responded to the scene and tracked east from the credit union, but was unable to locate the man. The FBI and Oakland County Sheriff's Office are assisting with the investigation. Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to contact Rochester Police Detective Luke Mitchell at 248.651.9621.
