A 70-year-old Rochester Hills man was killed on Friday, August 3, from injuries he sustained when the motorcycle he was driving and a minivan collided on W. Auburn Road, near Fairgrove Terrace, in Rochester Hills, authorities said.
Oakland County sheriff's deputies responded about 9:28 p.m. to the area for the report of a personal injury accident. The sheriff's office reported an 86-year-old Rochester Hills man was traveling west on Auburn Road in a 2003 Pontiac Montana when he attempted to turn left onto Fairgrove Terrace in front of an oncoming 2005 Harley Davidson heading east on W. Auburn Road. The motorcycle was unable to avoid the collision and struck the minivan on the passenger side of the vehicle.
The sheriff's office said the motorcycle driver was transported by paramedics with the Rochester Hills Fire Department to Ascension Crittenton Hospital where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the minivan wasn't injured. The sheriff's office said the driver of the minivan was wearing a seatbelt and the motorcycle driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Drugs and/or alcohol aren't suspected to be a factor.
