Rochester Schools names assistant superintendent

Rochester Community Schools has named Pamela Jones as the district's assistant superintendent for elementary education, equity and inclusion.

In her new role, Jones will oversee the curriculum, instructional services and evaluation for 13 elementary schools, including the learning consultant and early literacy programs. She also will provide instructional leadership for faculty and direct the district's diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to join such an amazing leadership team and to play a part in the continued growth in one of the highest achieving school districts in the state," Jones said. "In my first month on the job, I have met countless administrators, teachers and staff members who truly embody 'pride in excellence.' It is exciting to be a part of such an innovative and collaborative district."

Jones joins the district with 18 years of administrative experience at Chippewa Valley Schools. In her previous role as director of curriculum and assessment, she was responsible for creating a balanced assessment program and provided extensive professional development and support for teachers and administrators when using assessment data to drive instruction.

Prior to becoming the director of curriculum and assessment, Jones was an elementary principal for 13 years and a middle school science teacher for 13 years. She also worked as a national professional development presenter for 10 years while teaching.

Jones holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Oakland University, a curriculum specialist certificate from the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, an education specialist degree in educational leadership and administration from Wayne State University, a master's degree in science education from Wayne State University, and a bachelor's degree in biology from Aquinas College.

"Dr. Jones is a highly-qualified educator and administrator who brings a great deal of experience to Rochester Community Schools. We are pleased to welcome her to the team," Rochester Community Schools Superintendent Robert Shaner said.
