Car runs over woman in parking lot
A Troy woman was in serious condition on Sunday, September 9, after being run over by a car in the parking lot of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, 3967 S. Livernois Road in Rochester Hills, authorities said.
Oakland County Sheriff's deputies and first responders with the Rochester Hills Fire Department were called about 6:50 p.m. to the Lodge for an injury accident in the parking lot involving a 2016 Ford Edge. The sheriff's office said the woman, 71, may have been urging a 66-year-old Troy man to refrain from driving due to intoxication. The woman was apparently standing near the opening of the driver's door, inside the area between the door and the open car, when the man accelerated in reverse. The woman was knocked to the ground and possibly run over by the vehicle.
Following the crash, the driver parked the vehicle near where the woman was on the ground and remained at the scene.
The woman was transported by the Rochester Hills Fire Department to Beaumont Hospital in Troy, where she was listed in stable condition with serious injuries.
A search warrant was obtained for a blood sample from the driver. He was lodged at the Oakland County Jail, pending charges.
The incident is under investigation.
