Woman arrested for shoplifting at Walmart

A Rochester woman was arrested on Saturday, September 8, in connection with a shoplifting incident at a Rochester Hills Walmart store, authorities said.

A loss prevention employee at the store, 2500 S. Adams, contacted sheriff's deputies about 1:49 p.m. for the report of a 30-year-old woman who was stopped after trying to leave the store with several unpaid for items in her purse.

The employee said the woman was observed taking several items and putting them in her purse. She then went to the checkout area and paid for some items in her cart, but failed to ring up the items in her purse. She was stopped by the employee before exiting the store.

The items, which included bras, underwear, bracelets, necklaces and other unidentified merchandise, were valued at $80.91.

The woman was transported to the sheriff's Rochester Hills substation where she was fingerprinted and cited for retail fraud, then released pending a court date.

She then returned to Walmart to retrieve the items she had paid for earlier.
