Sheriffs investigate possible suicide at work site

The apparent suicide of a 73-year-old Oakland Township man who was found deceased at a construction site in Rochester Hills is being investigated by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies and the Rochester Hills Fire Department responded about 7:30 a.m. on Friday, September 29, to the report of a possible suicide in the area of Tree Top Lane and N. Rochester Road. A construction worker told deputies that upon reporting for work at a nearby job site, he discovered a man lying on the ground in front of a parked car. The victim had an obvious gunshot wound to his head.

Paramedics responded and transported the man to Ascension-Crittenton Hospital, where physicians confirmed the death.

The sheriff's office said a note was found in the victim's possession that stated he was experiencing depression and trying to cope with the onset of Alzheimer's disease.

The death remains under investigation.
