Rochester Hills man struck by passing vehicle
A 56-year-old Rochester Hills man was injured Wednesday, October 10, when he was struck by a passing vehicle that then swerved off the road, struck a large rock and rolled over at LeGrand Boulevard E. and Fountainebleau Court, in Rochester Hills, authorities said.
Oakland County Sheriff's deputies responding about 8:28 p.m. arrived to the scene and discovered the victim, who had been walking in the area. The occupants of the vehicle, which had rolled over in the median, fled the scene of the crash. Deputies were able to locate and identify the driver of the vehicle as a 26-year-old North Branch man.
The driver wasn't injured and refused medical treatment. The sheriff's office said he was found to be intoxicated and was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated. He was transported to McLaren Hospital for medical clearance and a search warrant blood draw, before being taken to the Oakland County Jail.
The passenger of the vehicle later returned to the scene and refused medical treatment but provided a statement to authorities.
A witness to the incident was identified and also provided a statement.
The victim was transported to Troy Beaumont Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
