BHS superintendent candidates narrowed to two

After a first round of interviews to find a new superintendent for Bloomfield Hills Schools, the board of education narrowed it down to two finalists, Billy Shellenbarger and Rick West, at a special meeting on Friday, April 19.


Final interviews will be held on Wednesday, May 1, for Shellenbarger, and Thursday, May 2, for West.


Both second round interviews will including stakeholder engagement opportunities, including a Meet & Greet of the candidate and student engagement at 12:30 p.m. at Bloomfield Hills High School; a Meet & Greet of the candidate and staff engagement at 3:30 p.m. at Bloomfield Hills High School; followed by a Meet & Greet for the candidate and community engagement at Bloomfield Hills High School at 5 p.m.


A finalist presentation and interview at a special meeting of the board of education will take place each night at 7 p.m. at the Booth Center, 7273 Wing Lake Road. The meeting will also be live streamed.


Shellenbarger is currently superintendent of Clawson Public Schools, and West is deputy superintendent, Troy School District.
