COUNTY COMMISSION 9TH DISTRICT

Part of Bloomfield township, part of Pontiac

DEMOCRAT

ANGELA POWELL

Angela Powell, a resident of Pontiac, is the incumbent count commissioner for this district, having first been elected in 2018. She has also spent years working with the Democratic party and for members of the state legislature.

Underground and surface waters

I would have to research more regarding this, but I would consult with our lake boards/residents to see what they would support and continue to advocate for what is best for majority of the residents of communities that deal with lakes/rivers.

Septic testing at point of sale

Yes, I have been advocating for help with our septic systems all around Oakland County. And will support the best option that does come before us for support to help citizens with this issue. We have residents being faced with this burden and it can become very costly.

Public museums tax

Yes, I am in support of us looking at a county wide approach of helping museums in Oakland County. I know there are some I am unaware of, but would like to add the new Pontiac Transportation Museum in Pontiac to this list as well to benefit.

Validity of voting returns

I am confident that we have a great clerk who makes sure we are accountable for anything we are asked for during any validation period. And I am not aware of her not complying to any request that was asked of our clerk.

Key issues

Housing: We must build new/additional housing that is attainable for residents to rent or purchase. We have so many different wealth levels and need more housing stock to provide more likable and livable locations in our county. Workforce: We have to connect residents to all the resources we have for the workforce. Residents are not aware of all of the resources, and we have to do better in figuring out more ways to connect with residents. Expungement: We have citizens not aware that we have hired an attorney to help people get their record reviewed and possibly expunged if the resident qualifies. The attorney will also help them thru the process and even represent them for their court date. So, I want more people to use this resource to get their records expunged and have a chance at a new beginning.

Overall, my goal is to always try to help citizens reduce any burdens hindering their life progression. And if we can help in these three of many other area, this would make our county an even more better place.

REPUBLICAN

Eugene Davis Sr.
