After more than 29 years in business, it was announced by owner Steve Coval that the Birmingham luxury linen store Cristions, 205 N. Old Woodward Avenue, will be closing it doors in the coming weeks. Coval said that his decision was reached after “deep reflection and even deeper gratitude for the community that has supported us for nearly three decades.” Coval added that “Over the years, we have had the privilege of providing comfort to tens of thousands of metro Detroiters. What began as a simple mission — to bring the world’s finest European bed linens, duvet covers, and Michiganmade luxury down comforters to our community — grew into something far more meaningful. Our customers’ homes, families, and their stories became part of our story. We have been honored to be recognized along the way. Our store has been featured in numerous newspapers and television segments, and we are proud to have been named Best Luxury Linens and Best Home Décor Retailer multiple times by Hour Detroit magazine. We have outfitted the bedrooms of countless celebrities, including President George W Bush.” Coval said that store pricing is being discounted by 50 percent and the exact closing date will be in about six to eight weeks. As to what Coval has planned for the immediate future, he said it was simply time to “enjoy life.” Coval said that on a much reduced work schedule, he will still be continuing with his online luxury linen business Vero Linens at verolinens.com.
