Free school meals continue during summer
In both Bloomfield Hills Schools and Birmingham Public Schools, free meals will continue to be served to any child under the age of 18, or one who is in a special program under the age of 26, throughout the summer, ending September 2.
For those picking up in the Bloomfield Hills Schools district, weekly pick-up will take place at Bloomfield Hills High School every Monday and Thursday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. , other than the week of July 5. Meals will be provided for breakfast and lunch.
According to the district, the meals served curbside are intended to be prepared at home, so although all items are pre-cooked, some simple cooking may be necessary to achieve the optimal taste and texture of the product.
To pick up meals, enter the high school's main entrance at 4200 Andover Road. For more information, visit bloomfield.org/lunch or call food services at 248.341.5671.
For those picking up through Birmingham Schools, pick up is at Groves High School, on the west side of the building at the pool doors, and children do not need to be present, but preorder is necessary to order produce and reduce waste.
Pick up is on Thursdays from 9-10 a.m. Pick up is for seven days of breakfasts and lunches, with fruit, vegetables and milk for each meal.
