Gazelle Sports is celebrating a significant milestone as its Birmingham store marks 10 years of serving the community. Since opening its doors in 2016, the specialty running and active lifestyle retailer has built a strong reputation for exceptional customer service, expert footwear fitting, and a commitment to helping people of all ages achieve their health and fitness goals. Over the past decade, Gazelle Sports has become more than a retail destination. The Birmingham store has developed lasting relationships with customers while supporting local races, schools, nonprofit organizations and community wellness initiatives. It also serves as a packet-pickup location for numerous metro Detroit races, including the Turkey Trot and Corktown Races. The store’s knowledgeable team provides personalized guidance and professional gait analysis to help runners, walkers, and fitness enthusiasts find footwear and other products suited to their individual needs. The Birmingham location is managed by Bloomfield resident Matt Broadwell, who describes the store as a unique part of the Gazelle Sports family. “Each of our stores is unique, but the Birmingham location is our boutique-style store where we do a significant amount of sales in apparel,” Broadwell said. In addition to running footwear and performance gear, the store carries a selection of popular lifestyle and athletic brands, including Varley, Rhone, Splendid and Detroit-based Greyson. Gazelle Sports has Michigan locations in Birmingham, Grandville, Holland, Kalamazoo, Northville, and two locations in Grand Rapids, along with global e-commerce operations through GazelleSports.com. Founded in Kalamazoo in 1985 by Chris Lampen-Crowell and Bruce Johnson, Gazelle Sports recently transitioned to being 100 percent woman-owned and operated.
