The Bloomfield Hills Schools district is reaching out to the community for input on both the Bowers School Farm and the Johnson Nature Center as district officials and officials with the Oakland County Parks continue discussions about a possible intergovernmental partnership for operation of both local facilities.
School district officials recently announced that no agreements with county officials have been finalized, but talks are currently centered on giving priority access for educational programming to the schools while Oakland County Parks would oversee recreation-related operations. School officials say the partnership could help preserve and enhance both sites, expand recreational opportunities, and address long-term facility needs.
To gather public opinion on a possible partnership, the county and school district have schedule two public engagement sessions in October. On Saturday, October 18, from 10 a.m. to noon, there will be a session to gather public opinion held at the Bowers School Farm. A similar public input session is also scheduled on Monday, October 20, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Johnson Nature Center.
The school district is also offering an online survey at https://tinyurl.com/mrjprmbp to allow for further public input.
