Shoppe Cozette, a new boutique offering a thoughtfully curated selection of women’s fashion, home goods, vintage finds and clean beauty products, has opened at 266 E. Maple Road in downtown Birmingham. The boutique is owned by Birmingham resident Tara Stover, whose roots in retail run deep. In the 1970s, her parents owned and operated Scarborough Square, a chain of men’s and women’s clothing stores throughout metro Detroit. In 2017, Stover and her father opened a Scarborough Square boutique in downtown Rochester. When the COVID-19 pandemic forced that store to close, Stover shifted her focus online, launching Shoppe Cozette. The e-commerce business quickly gained momentum, serving longtime retail customers while attracting a growing clientele in Birmingham, where Stover had built a strong following through her personal styling services. As the online business continued to expand, opening a brick-and-mortar location in Birmingham became a natural next step. Shoppe Cozette carries an elevated selection of apparel brands which include Chan Luu, Skall Studio, Dôen and Éterne, along with carefully selected home décor, one-of-a-kind vintage pieces, and clean beauty products. The boutique occupies the former Barbara Boz storefront, which has been redesigned by Tara Stover and her husband, architect Kevin Stover. Shoppe Cozette is open Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
