Tejani submits resignation from school board

Birmingham Public Schools Board of Education Trustee Jason Tejani has submitted his resignation, effective December 31 of this year.


The resignation was announce by board president Jennifer Rass.


Tejani was elected to the board in November of 2024 and Rass said that the board would be making an appointment to fill the vacancy until the November 2026 election when the position will be on the general election ballot.


Rass said that Tejani has recently receive a professional promotion that makes it no longer possible for him to fulfill his duties as a board member.


The board of education was expected on Thursday, December 18, to discuss appointment criteria, the application process and how the selection process will be handled.
