

Community House sale to Birmingham finalized
The City of Birmingham on Monday, July 6, closed on the $5.2 million purchase of The Community House building and property at 380 S. Bates Street in the downtown area, putting to rest a nearly nine-month issue surrounding the iconic community center that was announced for sale last November. Marshall Fredericks sculpture given to library
The Birmingham Baldwin Public Library (BPL) has announced receipt of a donation of a bronze cast Otter sculpture made by renowned artist Marshall M. Fredericks, donated in June by Dr. Franziska Schoenfeld. The sculpture, purchased directly from Fredericks in 1993 by Drs. Robert and Franziska Schoenfeld, was affectionately known as “Otto” by their family. Dr. Schoenfeld chose BPL as the recipient of this gift with the hope that library visitors would enjoy seeing the sculpture

Township library Michigan bald eagle program
The Bloomfield Township Public Library will be presenting a program on Michigan Bald Eagles with Dr. Carl Palazzolo on Tuesday, July 21. During the hour-long program, wildlife veterinarian and author Dr. Palazzolo will share insights and photos from his nearly 50 years of caring for bald eagles. Sewer rehabilitation contract awarded by city
A contract for sewer rehabilitation work through Birmingham’s 2026 sewer rehabilitation program was awarded during the Monday, June 22, meeting, moving the project forward through the consent agenda. The item was not pulled for separate discussion by any commissioner and was approved with the consent agenda in a 6-0 vote.
