$1,200 of goods stolen from downtown store

An assistant manager of a clothing business at South Old Woodward and West Maple roads in downtown Birmingham reported a shoplifting of $1,200 worth of clothing and other items on Saturday, July 13, around 5 p.m.

When Birmingham officers arrived, they were informed that three unknown juvenile females had entered the store and attempted to bring a backpack from a shelf into the changing room. After informing the suspects they could not do so, the suspects threw the backpack at the staff member and ran out of the store carrying $1,200 worth of goods.

Birmingham police report an investigation is ongoing.
