$11,000 in bike shop merchandise stolen

To make a bad day worse, nearly $11,000 worth of merchandise was stolen from a bike shop on the 33700 block of Woodward Avenue in Birmingham after the building owner evicted the shop owner over a dispute and the merchandise was left outside unattended.

Birmingham police said in the report that a custom electric bike, costing about $7,000, and a bike frame worth about $4,000 were stolen sometime before 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, from behind the building. According to an employee from a neighboring business, a vehicle pulled up and stole the bikes hours before the police were called.

Birmingham police report an investigation is ongoing.
