Help Santa Claus light Birmingham’s tree
The weather is cooperating, becoming holiday chilly, just in time for families to submit an entry for the 2017 Birmingham Santa Contest to win an opportunity to help Santa Claus light up Birmingham’s beautiful tree in Shain Park on Friday, December 1.
The Birmingham Shopping District (BSD) is inviting families to submit their entry for this treasured annual tradition. The 2017 Birmingham Santa Contest gives local families a special chance to help Santa light up the special holiday tree during the Birmingham Tree Lighting event in Shain Park on Friday, December 1, at 6 p.m.
The tree lighting event takes place during opening day of Birmingham Winter Markt, which this year takes place Friday, December 1, through Sunday, December 3 in Shain Park.
The winning family will get to enjoy hot cocoa and cookies with Santa at The Community House first, followed by a horse-drawn carriage ride to the Birmingham Tree Lighting event. Once there, the family will help Santa, Birmingham’s mayor and other dignitaries with the official tree lighting ceremony. In addition to these special treats, the family will be presented with a special gift.
