Man flees gas station with booze

Birmingham police are searching for a man who stole a half gallon bottle of Hennessey from the Shell Gas Station at 33600 Woodward Avenue in Birmingham on Monday, December 4.

Officers were called to the Shell station on a report of a retail theft in progress around noon. When they arrived, the suspect had already fled on foot. Employees at the gas station said they saw the suspect conceal a half gallon bottle of Hennessy cognac in his backpack, and an employee attempted to verbally confront him, but he quickly pushed the employee out of the way and ran out the door.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-20s to mid-30s, about 5-feet, 8-inches to 6-feet tall, between 200 to 240 pounds, with short brown hair and an earring in his left ear. He was wearing a gray Nike sweatshirt, long black shorts, tennis shoes and a black backpack.

Birmingham police are investigating.
