Shopper loses wallet; bogus card charges made

A woman shopping at the Bloomfield Township Trader Joe’s had her wallet taken from the upper part of her cart while she was shopping on Monday, December 4, and her bankcard was used at the Southfield Target for almost $5,000.

Between 11:15 a.m and 12 p.m., someone stole the wallet from a purse that had been placed in the upper portion of a shopping cart at Trader Joe’s at 6536, the victim told Bloomfield Township police. She said she had put her purse and wallet in the top part of the cart while she shopped, and when she attempted to check out, she realized her wallet was missing. She said it contained $40 in cash, her identification, as well as assorted credit cards.

Police learned that between 12:13 p.m and 1:01 p.m that day, her bankcard was used at Target in Southfield for purchases totaling $4,753.

Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to call the Bloomfield Township Police Department, 248.433.7755.
