Teen steals, huffs electronics duster

An 18-year-old from Birmingham stole several cans of electronics duster from the Bloomfield Township Staples store and was seen huffing the contents outside on Wednesday, December 20.

A store employee contacted Bloomfield Township police to report that between 9 and 11 a.m., a retail fraud occurred at the office supply store located at 43313 Woodward Avenue, of eight cans of electronics duster, valued at $59. The employee witnessed Abigail Huston, 18, of Birmingham, enter the store and steal the cans, and then saw her huffing the contents outside the store prior to police arriving.

Police were able to quickly handcuff Huston her without injury to her or the officers. She was taken to a local hospital and cleared for incarceration. She was lodged at the Bloomfield Township police station until she was arraigned later that day at 48th District Court in front of Howard Linden on retail fraud, consumption/inhalation of a prohibited agent and resisting/obstructing an agent.

Huston’s next court date is Wednesday, January 3, at 48th District Court before Judge Kimberly Small.
