Stolen township car found in Southfield
A Bloomfield Township resident whose vehicle was stolen from her driveway on December 16 learned it was found later that day in Southfield with the keys in it.
The resident, who lives in the 1000 block of Longpointe Drive, told Bloomfield Township police that between 3:45 and 4:04 a.m. Saturday, December 16, she parked her vehicle in her driveway, perhaps with the keys left in the center console. She told officers she believes she left the vehicle unlocked. The next morning she noticed the vehicle, a 2016 white Jeep Grand Cherokee, was gone, and checked her home surveillance system.
Cameras monitoring showed two suspects approaching the Jeep. The first suspect entered the vehicle briefly. The second suspect, an unknown male, 16 to 20 years old, wearing dark clothing with the hood up, as well as the first suspect who had exited the car, both ran away from the SUV. The first suspect then returned to the vehicle and drove away with it.
Police reported that later that morning, at approximately 11:50 a.m., the vehicle was recovered in Southfield, with the keys in it. It appeared undamaged, and nothing was missing. After processing, the vehicle was returned to the owner.
Bloomfield Township police are continuing to search for the suspects.
