Unlocked front door leads to burglary

Birmingham homeowners living in the 500 block of Ridgedale reported that when they woke up on Friday, January 26, they discovered their front door was wide open and a purse and wallet were missing from a table in the living room.

The residents told Birmingham police that their daughter returned home around 11:30 p.m. the night before and did not lock the front door.

Upon searching, police later found the purse outside near a garbage can with several items missing.

Officers are continuing to investigate.
