Front door kicked in on Hanna

A Birmingham resident dismissed a home alarm as a false alarm only to discover their front door had been kicked in on Friday, March 9.

The resident, who lives in the 600 block of Hanna, reported they returned home around 6 p.m. and discovered their front door was ajar. They acknowledged their home alarm had gone off, but they dismissed it as a false alarm.

Officers reported that the front door appeared to have been kicked open. The deadbolt lock on the door was still in the locked position, but part of the door frame was completely damaged and was lying on the floor.

The homeowners determined nothing was missing from the home.

Witnesses told police that they saw a black vehicle, which possibly may be a newer model Nissan Armada, traveling up and down the street at the time of the break-in.

Birmingham police are investigating.
