Man tries to steal meat, beer from Kroger

Employees at the Birmingham Kroger store confronted a man trying to steal meats and beer from the Kroger store at Woodward and Maple on Thursday, March 29.

Employees at the Kroger, located at 700 E. Maple Road, saw a white man, approximately 50 years old, putting meats and beer cans into his coat and then walk out of the store. An employee confronted the man, and he brought everything back into the store. He then ran out of the store and took off on a yellow bicycle.

The man is described as 5-feet, 5-inches tall, 150 pounds, wearing blue jeans, a black Detroit shirt, blue coat, black hat, white shoes and black headphones.

Birmingham police are investigating.
