Woman caught ‘huffing’ in Costco bathroom
Bloomfield Township Costco employees discovered a woman had stolen a can of Dust-off from their shelves and was in the bathroom “huffing” the product in the store's bathroom, and called police on Wednesday, April 11.
An alert Costco employee observed suspicious behavior in the women's bathroom at the store, located at 2343 Telegraph Road, and immediately reported it to her manager. Upon further investigation, the manager discovered a suspect huffing a can of Dust-off that had been taken off the store shelf. Huffing is the intentional inhalation of chemical vapors to attain a high.
The suspect was taken to the loss prevention office, where she confessed to the theft of the Dust-off.
Bloomfield Township police arrived and arrested the suspect, Abigail Elizabeth Huston, for retail fraud and inhalation of chemical agents. Huston was arraigned on Thursday, April 12 before 48th District Court Magistrate Howard Linden, and given a $10,000, 10 percent cash/surety bond.
