Large purse conceals beer, socks

A woman was seen filling a large handbag with beer and men's socks at the Bloomfield Township Rite Aid store on Sunday, April 22.

Bloomfield Township officers were called to the Rite Aid store at 42931 Woodward Avenue, where employees reported that the previous day a heavyset African American female entered the store carrying a large handbag. She proceeded to fill the bag with beer and men's socks worth over $100.

Employees told police the woman made no attempt to pay for the items and she left the store.

She took off from the area in a black, four-door Mazda sedan with Texas plates, driven by an older black male. The license plate number is Texas HBZ-9111.

Bloomfield Township police said the woman matches the description of a suspect in other Bloomfield Township retail fraud cases.

Police are investigating.
