Village Fair returns to downtown Birmingham

The 55th annual Birmingham Village Fair is returning to downtown Birmingham Thursday, May 31 through Sunday, June 3, on the streets surrounding Shain Park. The Village Fair will take over Birmingham’s Shain Park and all of the streets nearby as Tilt-a-Whirl, the carousel, ferris wheel, fun slide, and so many more carnival rides populate the city to entertain kids of all ages. The annual four-day event is hosted by the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber and presented by United Shore, featuring carnival rides, games and fun festival food. Admission to the fair is free, with ride vouchers and tickets available for purchase. “The chamber is proud to continue what has become an iconic event for the greater-Birmingham community,” chamber president Joe Bauman said. “For 55 years, multiple generations of families have enjoyed their neighborhood carnival, which also serves as a critical fundraiser for more than 20 local non-profit organizations. “We have distributed more than $100,000 to local non-profits in the past seven years, and we could not do this without the generous support of our presenting sponsor, United Shore Financial Services, and the carnival operator, North American Midway Entertainment,” Bauman continued. “And we are grateful to the city of Birmingham for allowing us to use Shain Park and downtown Birmingham as the most incredible backdrop for the fair.” The fair is open on Thursday, May 31, from 2-10 p.m.; Friday, June 1, 12-11 p.m.; Saturday, June 2, 11 a.m.-11p.m.; and Sunday, June 3, 12-9 p.m. Vouchers are available for unlimited rides at the fair on Thursday, May 31, from 2-10 p.m.; Friday, June 1, from noon – 6 p.m.; and Sunday, June 3, noon – 9 p.m. Vouchers are $20 – a $5 savings, if purchased by May 31 at the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber, 725 S. Adams, Suite 130; Birmingham Bloomfield Credit Union, 576 Lincoln; Bank of Ann Arbor, 33583 Woodward Avenue, all in Birmingham; or online at bbcc.com. Credit cards accepted at ticket booth to purchase ride tickets and vouchers. Prices for tickets set by the fair company and subject to change.
