In the Park Summer concert series starting

Summer really is here when Birmingham's In the Park Summer Concert series begins, which this year kicks off on Friday, June 15, at 7 p.m. in Shain Park.

While regular concerts will return to their traditional Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. on June 20 with the Birmingham Concert Band and run through August 15 in Shain Park, the series kicks off with the Birmingham Bloomfield Community Coalition Youth Action Board's Teen Summer Series Friday, June 15. During this safe, fun and substance-free event, local high school students will have the opportunity to celebrate the end of school with a performance in Shain Park.

There will also be special afternoon concerts held on Wednesday, July 11, and Wednesday, August 1, from 12 – 2 p.m.

“The In the Park Summer Concert series is a long-standing tradition in Birmingham and we’re looking forward to bringing another great line-up of bands to Shain Park,” said Birmingham Director of Public Services Lauren Wood. “We encourage the community to come out and enjoy both afternoon and evening concerts this summer.”
