Woman attempts to steal cosmetics, jewelry

On Monday, June 11, the Rite Aid store manager at Woodward and Square Lake roads confronted a woman trying to steal beauty products, personal care goods and costume jewelry in her purse, and Bloomfield Township police arrested her for what turned out to be her second time stealing from the store.

Around 6 p.m. June 11, township police officers responded to the Rite Aid at 42931 Woodward Avenue on a retail fraud complaint. The store manager had confronted a woman suspected of shoplifting, and discovered cosmetics, costume jewelry and personal care items concealed in her purse.

When officers arrived, they arrested Charly Norbury, 35, of Pontiac.

Norbury was also seen on video surveillance at Rite Aid on May 23, stealing similar items for a total value of $180 worth of stolen goods.

Norbury was arraigned on two counts of retail fraud on Monday, June 11, at 48th District Court before Judge Diane D'Agostini, and given a $5,000 cash/surety bond.

Her next court date is scheduled for Thursday, June 21, before Judge Marc Barron of 48th District Court.
