Mailbox explodes when packed with fireworks

A Bloomfield Township resident was woken up at 2:15 in the morning Tuesday, July 10, by the sound of a large explosion, and discovered someone had placed fireworks in his mailbox.

The resident, who lives in the 4900 block of Haddington Drive, called Bloomfield Township police after he was awoken by the sound of a large explosion, and when he went outside to investigate, he discovered his mailbox had been damaged by fireworks.

Bloomfield Township police are investigating.
