Southbound Adams closes August 8 for road work

Southbound Adams Road between S. Boulevard and Square Lake Road, on the Troy/Bloomfield Township boarder will close to traffic beginning Wednesday, August 8, the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) announced. The road is being closed for resurfacing. The road will remain closed to southbound traffic throughout the project, with northbound Adams Road open to traffic. The project is expected to be completed in late October, the RCOC said. The recommended detour for southbound traffic is S. Boulevard to Squirrel Road to Square Lake Road and back to Adams Road. This is a $2.1 million project funded primarily with federal dollars, along with $418,000 from RCOC. It will include milling and resurfacing, shoulder widening, draining improvements, and construction of Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant sidewalks with pedestrian signals. Approximately 149,000 vehicles travel this section of Adams Road each day.
