Jeep stolen from drive, bikes left instead

A Bloomfield Township resident who left his Jeep in his driveway unlocked overnight on Sunday, September 2, had it stolen, with several bicycles left instead.

On the morning of Monday, September 3, Bloomfield Township police officers went to a home in the 1700 block of Hickory Bark Lane, where the owner stated he had parked his gray 2017 Jeep Compass in the driveway the night before, leaving it unlocked with the keys in the ignition. The man said his daughter came home later that evening, and noticed there were several abandoned bicycles in the roadway near their house. She called the Bloomfield Township Police Department to file a suspicious circumstance report.

Police believe that whoever was riding the bikes may be responsible for stealing the Jeep Compass.

The case is currently under investigation.
