Birmingham Farmers Market ends this Sunday
All good things must come to an end, and with winter approaching, the Birmingham Farmers Market will celebrate the conclusion of its 16th season on Sunday, October 28, from 9 a.m – 2 p.m.
As the harvest season comes to its glorious end, so too does the Birmingham Farmers Market, which proudly features exclusively Michigan-grown produce and is subject to Michigan growing patterns. October always brings a bountiful selection of fall produce, in addition to fall-themed home accessories, floral arrangements, gourds and pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. Shoppers will also enjoy baked goods, freshly prepared foods, donuts, apple cider, eggs, syrup, jams and jellies, fresh meat, fish, poultry, soaps, candles and dog treats.
There will be special fall-themed activities that will add to the fun as the season comes to a close. Those who attend will enjoy corn shelling, face painting, live music and pumpkin carving demonstrations throughout the day. Everyone is invited to stop by and enjoy the delicious smells and samples at the market. Food trucks will feature hot dogs and travel-burgers. Children of all ages are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes and collect special treats from the farmers. Plus, children will enjoy a special pumpkin craft at the Kids Zone, hosted by Birmingham Youth Assistance.
“Over the past 26 Sundays we’ve enjoyed offering the community many returning vendors in addition to 34 brand new vendors this year,” said Farmers Market Manager Ellen Yerks. “We’ve enjoyed visiting with members of the community, and look forward to seeing everyone again in May as we kick off another great season.”
