Masked men break in at Lucido Jewelers

Four black males wearing dark hoodies, masks and gloves attempted to break the Rolex watch showcase at the Lucido Fine Jewelry store in downtown Birmingham on Saturday, October 27.

Employees at the store, located at 300 N. Old Woodward at Hamilton, told Birmingham Police that four black males wearing dark hoodies, masks and gloves came into the store and went to the Rolex watch cases, where they used sledgehammers repeatedly in an effort to break the cases and steal watches. The suspects were unable to get into the Rolex showcase, but did steal two Michele watches as they fled the store when they couldn't break the glass in the secured Rolex showcase.

Witnesses said they took off in an older model green Jeep Cherokee.

Birmingham police are investigating.
