Man walks out of Whole Foods with $300 of food

A Royal Oak man walked out of the Birmingham Whole Foods store on Friday, November 2, with a grocery cart worth of unpaid merchandise, and was arrested.

Employees at the Whole Foods store, located at 2100 E. Maple Road, called Birmingham Police after stopping the man, a 60-year-old from Royal Oak, after he left the specialty grocer with $300 worth of unpaid groceries and other merchandise in his cart.

The man was held by store management until officers arrived.

He was arrested by Birmingham police for retail fraud.
